Weather resistance test parameters for rural lighting ready boards in Africa (for tropical rural areas in Africa/Eskom projects)
Ultraviolet irradiation (UVA-340, ISO 4892-3)
IEC 62208 Universal outdoor enclosure reference: 500 hours;
Requirements for strong sunlight in rural areas of Africa: The duration of ultraviolet radiation exposure should not be less than 1000 hours.
Test cycle: 60 ℃ light exposure for 4 hours+50 ℃ condensation for 4 hours; judgment: no cracking, powdering, color difference level ≥ gray card level 3.
High and low temperature cycle (IEC 60068-2-14)
African rural lighting ready boards require a minimum of 10 cycles of high and low temperature.
Single cycle conditions: -30 ℃ for 2 hours → room temperature for 1 hour →+70 ℃ for 2 hours → room temperature for 1 hour; judgment: the shell is not cracked, deformed, the sealing ring is not faulty, and the electrical function is normal.
Explanation: The IEC 62208 standard itself only specifies 500 hours of ultraviolet radiation and does not mandate temperature cycling times; 1000 hours of ultraviolet radiation and 10 cycles of high and low temperatures are stricter conditions for projects with strong ultraviolet radiation and large temperature differences between day and night in tropical Africa. They are also commonly used acceptance indicators for rural lighting ready boards exported to Africa domestically.
