If the sealing of the box is average and the ventilation is insufficient, it is recommended to increase the protection of the terminal block components to IP54, which can prevent dust accumulation, resist condensation and splashing inside the box, and greatly reduce the risk of leakage and creepage short circuit.

IP level logic needs to be distinguished: the outer shell of the lighting electrical ready board is responsible for external rainwater and dust intrusion, generally using IP54/IP65; The terminal block belongs to the components inside the box and is not solely responsible for outdoor rain protection. The focus is on preventing residual dust and condensation inside the box. In the dusty and condensed environment of Africa, pure IP20 bare terminals can form conductive channels between terminals due to the mixture of dust and water vapor, causing corrosion, heating, and tripping faults. Prioritize the selection of flame-retardant PA66 base, tin plated and oxidation resistant copper parts, adjacent terminals with insulation partitions, and increase the creepage distance.

Supporting measures cannot be omitted: the cable entrance of the lighting electrical ready board body is sealed with gland heads, and the box door is sealed with encrypted seals; If necessary, install a small dehumidification module to reduce condensation inside the box. The terminal block with a cover plate IP20 is the basic minimum configuration. When the project environment is harsh, upgrade to IP54 to balance cost and long-term reliability on site, meeting South African SANS/IEC standards and Eskom acceptance requirements.
