Misconception about waterproofing of lighting electrical ready boards: can applying waterproof glue prevent moisture?

Applying waterproof adhesive alone cannot effectively prevent moisture in lighting electrical ready boards. Comprehensive measures such as sealing, ventilation, and dehumidification need to be taken to achieve long-term protection.

Waterproof adhesive is mainly used to prevent direct infiltration of liquid water, but the threat of humid environments not only comes from liquid water, but also from water vapor in the air. When the environmental humidity is high, water vapor will penetrate into the interior of the electrical ready board through small gaps or the capillary action of the material itself, condensing into water droplets on the surface of metal components, causing safety hazards such as rust and short circuits. The coating formed by waterproof adhesive cannot block the penetration of water vapor, relying solely on its moisture resistance. It is equivalent to putting a "raincoat" through the electrical ready board without blocking the "breathing hole", and moisture will still enter through unsealed gaps or the interior of the material.

Effective moisture prevention requires comprehensive measures from the following aspects:

Sealed isolation: Tightly seal key parts such as cable holes and ventilation openings in the electrical ready board to prevent moisture from entering from the outside. For example, filling cable through wall holes with waterproof sealing gaskets, fireproof mud and other materials to ensure no gaps.

Ventilation and moisture removal: On the basis of sealing, internal moisture is removed through natural ventilation or mechanical ventilation. For example, setting up natural ventilation and moisture removal channels at the bottom of the electrical ready board, using the principle of hot air rising to promote air circulation; Or install a small exhaust fan to accelerate the removal of moisture.

Auxiliary dehumidification: In humid environments, desiccants, dehumidifiers, and other equipment can be used in combination to further reduce internal humidity. For example, placing silicone desiccant packs in the electrical ready board and regularly replacing them to absorb moisture; Or install a small dehumidifier to convert water vapor in the air into liquid water through condensation principle and discharge it.

Material selection: Priority should be given to using materials with good moisture resistance to make the electrical ready board, such as stainless steel, engineering plastics, etc., to reduce the erosion of moisture on the box itself.

Regular maintenance: Regularly check the sealing condition of the electrical ready board and promptly repair damaged sealing materials; Clean the internal dust to prevent dust from absorbing moisture and causing condensation; Check the working status of the dehumidification equipment to ensure its normal operation.
